Abstract

ABSTRACT This is the first register of black hummingbird, Florisuga fusca, (Mainumby hu´ : Guarani)´ , at the Central Department, Paraguay, in 2010. The observation was made with naked eye on September 27th, 28th. and 30th., an adult of the species was photographed at the bike lane in San Lorenzo city, located at the geographical coordinates (25 ° 20' 16 "S - 57 ° 30' 46 "W) (11 km east of Asuncio´n city, the area itself is a 15 Ha green recreational park, in which there is a small artificial lake whose water mirror covers three quarters of Ha). This finding increases the distribution rangein approximately 250 km to the west. Observation was probably an individual accidental visitor.
