Abstract

MIYAZAKI, Masayuki  and  CARRILLO GONZALEZ, Claudia Daniela. Perception and knowledge of climate change in students of the National University of Asunción. Rep. cient. FACEN [online]. 2023, vol.14, n.2, pp.165-171. ISSN 2222-145X.  https://doi.org/10.18004/rcfacen.2023.14.2.165.

This research sought to describe the perception and knowledge of climate change in students of the National University of Asunción to propose strategies for action towards sustainability. An investigation with a qualitative approach was applied, with a non-experimental and descriptive design. As a data collection instrument, the semi-structured personal interview technique was used, based on a questionnaire in which the interviewer was free to introduce extra questions to obtain more information. As a result, it was possible to verify that the study population perceives the effects of climate change on a day-to-day basis and also agrees with actions in favor of the environment being planned; however, they have very superficial knowledge of the scientific information relevant to the subject. Therefore, there is a need for it to be incorporated into the class- room and through University Extension activities and favor the training of human resources that can promote sustainable development.
