BENITEZ-VILLALBA, Julio César; BARRIOS, Martiniano  y  BENITEZ-PENA, Mercedes. Validation of an analytical methodology for the quantification of ciprofloxacine in chicken eggs by HPLC. Rep. cient. FACEN [online]. 2023, vol.14, n.1, pp.50-61. ISSN 2222-145X.  https://doi.org/10.18004/rcfacen.2023.14.1.50.

Ciprofloxacin is a fluoroquinolone antibiotic used in human and veterinary medicine. This compound has some characteristics that make the resistance of the bacteria to them is reduced, however, the wide use that it is used in veterinary medicine can lead to their residues being incorporated into the food chain. For these reasons, the use of most antibiotics is regulated by different national and international organizations. In this research work, an analytical methodology for the determination and quantification of this antibiotic in chicken eggs that are marketed in Greater Asunción has been developed and validated. HPLC-FLD high resolution liquid chromatography has been used, previously extracting the analyte from the liquid-liquid extraction technique. As a chromatographic column, Zorbax C18 (250 mm x 4.5 cm x 5 µm) was taken out at a temperature of 30°C. Detection was performed with fluorescence at wavelengths of 294 nm (excitation) 500 nm (emission), using a mobile phase of Acetonitrile:Water 50 mM citric acid, triethylamine pH 4 (10:90) in isocratic mode. The analytical method has proven to be highly sensitive, with a detection limit of less than 0.18 µg.g-1. The results prove the presence of this contaminant at concentrations between 40.34 and 46.09 µg/Egg. The data obtained will serve to sit down without precedent and generate scientific and statistically validated information data, which may be useful to inform the scientific community.
