Abstract
BENITEZ DUARTE, Antonia Felicia and GRAEML, Alexandre Reis. Technological appropriation: case study of the relationship between the user and IT in FACEN- UNA. Rep. cient. FACEN [online]. 2022, vol.13, n.2, pp.141-152. ISSN 2222-145X. https://doi.org/10.18004/rcfacen.2022.13.2.141.
This research work seeks to find the relationship between users and information technology (IT) adopted in an organizational environment. It has a descriptive purpose with a qualitative approach. Following the lines of research based on the concepts of the Adaptive Structure Theory (AST) and the Social Construction of Technology (SCOT), the use case of a virtual platform by teachers (users) is analyzed in a Paraguayan public university (the organization). Seventeen professors were interviewed, and secondary data was collected from the developers of the platform and the university. The results they showed show that, in mandatory situations, users make adaptations of the adopted technology to appropriate it, improving the results of its use with their pertinent personal or collective interests. The relationship between users and IT generates changes in the tasks, and even the users, with the definition of a "self-developed information system" that encompasses the tasks, the IT adopted by the organization and other technologies that contribute to its own system. The results found helped to contribute to a typology of the adaptations made by users when they use IT in their activities.
