Abstract
ORTIGOZA-CACERES, Nilsa Concepcion. A study of the contamination degree by iron in the Patiño Aquifer in deep wells in the Luque area. Rep. cient. FACEN [online]. 2018, vol.9, n.2, pp.99-108. ISSN 2222-145X. https://doi.org/10.18004/rcfacen.2018.9.2.99.
In the city of Luque there is a growing use of groundwater for the provision of drinking water, due to population growth, and potential overexploitation problems are generated, which turn some of the studied localities into systems under risk of contamination. In this work, simple research methodologies are applied to determine the degree of contamination by iron (Fe), which could also be applied to other areas of the aquifer. The use of the GOD method allowed to zonify the areas according to their degree of vulnerability and the representation in maps based on types of pollutant loads of the entire area; This technique can also be applied to other types of chemical species that come from natural and anthropic contaminations. For areas where high concentrations of iron have been found, actions are taken to monitor the problem. In general, Iron values in Luque waters vary from normal with a minimum of 0. 18 mg / l and abnormally high values of 1. 03 mg / l in Tercer Barrio.
