Abstract

GOMEZ GRANCE, F. J. et al. ANALYSIS OF PHYSICAL PARAMETERS THAT AFFECT THE QUALITY OF THE RADIOGRAPHIC FILMS OBTAINED BY DIAGNOSTIC RADIOLOGY SERVICES IN PARAGUAY. Rep. cient. FACEN [online]. 2010, vol.1, n.2, pp.15-30. ISSN 2222-145X.

In this work we observed temperature variations in the components of the developing process of radiographic films and their effects on the quality of the image, keeping the contrast of the subject and the optimal values of the image acquisition technique such as the source-plate distance, the kVp and mAs, field size, etc. To achieve this goal an aluminum wedges with 21 steps was made as the test object to obtain the curve of blackening of the x-rays. A densitometer was built to determine the optical densities of the radiographic images, calibrating the equipment with another standard densitometer. The measurement of the temperature of the liquid developer and darkroom temperature were correlated with the blackening curves obtained during 20 days in three different clinics. One of the most important results is the verification of the influence of environmental conditions on the quality of the process of obtaining the image and the versatility of the tests. In addition, the corrections derived from the data obtained, have increased the diagnostic quality of the image, without resorting to the replacement of conventional developer-darkroom by a digital image. Furthermore, an important aspect is the interaction of radiological technicians in a quality control process and the implementation of quality assurance, thus acquiring the knowledge of the importance of their work and care that they should have in a framework of Quality Culture.
