Abstract

FRANCO-ROJAS, Nancy Mabel  and  LOPEZ-JARA, Norma Raquel. Learning and study strategies in university students of the Faculty of Economic Sciences of the UNA, according to job occupation. 2019. Poblac.Desarro. [online]. 2021, vol.27, n.53, pp.88-100. ISSN 2076-054X.  https://doi.org/10.18004/pdfce/2076-054x/2021.027.53.088.

The research describes the learning and study strategies in university students in the state sector, with and without a job occupation through the first version of the test called LASSI (Learning and Study Strategies Inventory). The study was quantitative, descriptive and cross-sectional. Its objective was to identify the type of strategies used by university students, to verify the characteristics and significant differences between both groups of students and to corroborate at what level they were positioned in the scale adapted and constructed for this research. The sample consisted of 125 students, 71 female and 54 male, ages ranging from 20 years to 40 years. In the data analysis, the internal factorial structure, reliability and validity of the instrument for the study sample were evaluated. Subsequently, the differences between the groups were checked using the Student's t test. The results show statistically significant differences between the groupings on the anxiety and information processing scales. In general, the students were positioned in the 24.8 percentile of the scale, a level classified as deficient in terms of the use of learning and study strategies. For the findings with weaknesses, practical adjustments were recommended, among them: distance education, creation of a “staff” of qualified teachers, work- shops, seminars and / or independent study, which allow generating, creating and socializing spaces for development, improvement and formation of learning and study strategies.

Keywords : strategies; learning; college students; job occupation; LASSI inventory.
