Abstract

ALFONSO-DE SILVERO, Mirtha  and  AGUILERA, Paula Susana. Fire risk assessment in hotels in San Bernardino, Paraguay. Poblac.Desarro. [online]. 2020, vol.26, n.51, pp.26-36. ISSN 2076-054X.  https://doi.org/10.18004/pdfce/2076-054x/2020.026.51.026.

The present work has been carried out in two hotels in the city of San Bernardino, which were previously taken as a sample of the project called “Hoteles seguros, alojamiento feliz”, of the Universidad Columbia del Paraguay (UCPY), and consisted of conducting an evaluation of its fire safety facilities, in order to verify their conditions, after having been part of the “Hoteles seguros, alojamiento feliz” project. The analysis was carried out using the methodology developed by an insurance company, called “Simplified Method of Fire Risk Assessment” (MESERI), complemen ted by a cost - benefit analysis, interviews with experts and managers of the establishments and the review of the UCPY project report, finding that investments have been made to improve safety systems and the preparation of employees to handle emergency situations in case of fire, thus reaching a score, on the MESERI scale, which place them in a fire risk level “Good”.

Keywords : San Bernardino hotels; MESERI method; safety; fires.
