Abstract
NUNEZ-GUERRERO, Juan Carlos. Labor Supply and Conditional Cash Transfer: Evidences from Tekoporã Program. Poblac.Desarro. [online]. 2019, vol.25, n.49, pp.10-23. ISSN 2076-054X. https://doi.org/10.18004/pdfce/2076-054x/2019.025.49.010-023.
This article searches understand the effects caused by the Conditional Cash Transfer Program Tekoporã of Paraguay in labor supply of participants. To achieve this purpose, a group of program participants was identified and, using the Propensity Score Matching method, a control group was selected. The results of these groups were obtained through an econometric regression that determined the Average Effect on Participants (Average Treatment Effect on the Treated). Then, the results of the control group were compared with those obtained by the group of participants, to determine the effect of the program. Two databases of the General Directorate of Statistics, Surveys and Census (DGEEC) were used. The program did not have significant effects on the labor supply. With regard to adults, this implies that the transfers received do not substantially change the reserve salary, to induce them to leave the labor market. On the other hand, the lack of effects on child labor means that the program is an insufficient tool to reduce it.
