Abstract

NUNEZ GUERRERO, Juan Carlos. Economic growth and income distribution: a paraguayan perspective. Poblac.Desarro. [online]. 2016, vol.22, n.43, pp.54-61. ISSN 2076-054X.  https://doi.org/10.18004/pdfce/2076-054x/2016.022(43)054-061.

Using the methodology of growth incidence curves; this paper analyzes the distribution of income produced during Paraguay’s econom-ic growth in 2007-2012. The results indicate that growth in the total period was pro-poor. Growth rates of people located in the lower and middle percentiles were higher. This favored the reduction of poverty and income inequality. By analyzing the interannual variations and his classification in expansive and recessive, it was found that expansive were generally pro-poor, while recessive had different effects.

Keywords : economic growth; income distribution; pro-poor.
