Abstract

GARCIA-PINZON, Viviana  and  RUIZ-MORATO, Natalia. Comparative analysis among Colombia, Thailand and South Africa of the gender inequality in the economic liberalization. Poblac.Desarro. [online]. 2016, vol.22, n.42, pp.36-44. ISSN 2076-054X.  https://doi.org/10.18004/pdfce/2076-054x/2016.022(42)036-044.

A comparative analysis among Colombia, Thailand and South Africa of the gender inequality in the economic liberalization is a descriptive and heuristic research which objective was analyzed the gender inequality in the context of economic liberalization. The research question is what have been the impacts of reforms of trade policy in terms of women’s participation in the labor market, horizontal segregation and gender wage gaps in the countries mentioned above? In response, the comparative study of the three case studies assumed that the women’s participation in the labor market has grown, but occupational and wage segregation by gender persists. The scope of the research showed that the comparison of cases highlights that women themselves are among the most vulnerable to changes by economic liberalization in trade policy and economic shocks, where the market does not solve disparities in economic distribution of women.

Keywords : gender-inequality; labour-market; wage-segregation; comparative-analysis.
