Abstract

This article aims to present the characteristics of the social territory February 26, San Lorenzo, known until recently, and even today, as “Marquetalia”. In Paraguay it has experienced since the 80s an important migratory current internal rural-urban, to the point of transition from a predominantly rural country, according to preliminary data from Census 2012, the urban population became greater tan Rural (from Census 1992 records). As part of this historic process emerged the current social territory February 26 San Lorenzo, which altered the aforementioned trend of unplanned settlements and organized through the active participation of its occupants and their organizational capacity and mobilization, which He characterized by high conflict and led to a major intervention. This article presents a demographic and socioeconomic characterization of neighborhood families February 26 (2013 data) is presented, to recover the genesis of a new stage in the process of urbanization in the country. The realization of this item is the first part of the work done by the team of the Investigation Department of the Ministry of Social Action. The SAS went with him occurred in the process of urbanization since 2003, with policies that contributed to the consolidation of the neighborhood. The process of Barrio February 26 was an experience configurational public policy, social demand stemming from the states: the emerging housing deficit of internal migration.
