Abstract

FIORE, Hugo Ojeda  and  ARIAS PENAYO, Daniel. Surgical approach to the popliteal fossa. Rev. Nac. (Itauguá) [online]. 2023, vol.15, n.1, pp.82-87. ISSN 2072-8174.  https://doi.org/10.18004/rdn2023.jun.01.082.087.

Low-grade leiomyosarcoma is a rare neoplasm in the gap and its therapeutic approach remains a challenge. The choice of compartmental surgery, based on the anatomical elements of this region, proved to be an effective strategy to address the soft tissue tumor, preserving the integrity of the neurovascular structures. The results obtained support the feasibility of compartmental surgery in the treatment of low-grade leiomyosarcomas in the popliteal fossa, which may guide future therapeutic decisions and improve clinical outcomes in patients with similar conditions.

Keywords : popliteal fossa; compartmental surgery; extensive surgery; soft tissue tumors; lower limb sarcomas.
