Abstract

RODRIGUEZ FONSECA, Robert Alejandro et al. Ceco-ascending volvulus. Rev. Nac. (Itauguá) [online]. 2019, vol.11, n.2, pp.102-108. ISSN 2072-8174.  https://doi.org/10.18004/rdn2019.0011.02.102-108.

Ceco-ascending volvulus is a rare clinical presentation and a cause of intestinal occlusion. Patients present variable clinical manifestations, from acute abdominal pain to septic shock. We present the clinical case of a patient undergoing surgery for an occlusive syndrome, where a ceco-ascending volvulus with vascular compromise was found. The caecal-ascending volvulus is a rare cause of intestinal obstruction and due to its multiple clinical presentations, its diagnosis in most cases is performed during laparotomy. The objective of this report is to describe the clinical characteristics and treatment in patients with ceco-ascending volvulus.

Keywords : intestinal volvulus; intestinal obstruction; laparotomy.
