PORTILLO DELVALLE, Carmen Mirian; SAMUDIO DOMINGUEZ, Gloria Celeste; RAMOS RUIZ DIAZ, Pasionaria Rosa  y  BAEZ MALDONADO, Eugenio. Latent tuberculosis confirmed by in vitro release of interferon gamma. Rev. Nac. (Itauguá) [online]. 2018, vol.10, n.2, pp.121-133. ISSN 2072-8174.  https://doi.org/10.18004/rdn2018.0010.02.121-133.

Introduction:

tuberculosis, a communicable disease caused by organisms of the Mycobacterium tuberculosis complex, is acquired by droplets from smear-positive patients, but latent infection (LTBI) develops late. It is currently diagnosed by in vitro detection of interferon gamma (IGRA) release Quantiferon TB Gold®In tube in blood, identifying them in rheumatological diseases, immunocompromised, solid organ transplant regimen, family contacts, health personnel with baciliferous patients.

Objective:

to confirm the presence of latent tuberculosis in patients with risk factors or exposure.

Materials and Methods:

retrospective cross-sectional study conducted from 2014 to 2017. IGRA requests made on blood samples were reviewed for patients with suspected latent tuberculosis. Quantiferon TB Gold® In Tube was used, according to the manufacturer: ELISA method, interpretation with QFT software v2.62 and results: positive, negative and indeterminate.

Results:

261 IGRA results were reviewed in blood samples from patients aged 3 to 86 years old patients aged 3 to 86 years old, median of 49 years old, 126 men and 105 women were analyzed. Social Security (IPS) 56, Ministry of Health (MSP) 35 and Public Services 176. They were 38 positive (15%), Inderterminados (4%); 18% women; 37% from 81 to 90 years, 16% private services, 24% pulmonary disease, autoimmune disease and contact with bacilliferous 20%; myeloproliferative 15%, transplant 6% and no data 11%.

Conclusions:

38 (15%) LTBI were confirmed in the country with the IGRA, most adults aged 81 to 90 years old and women, 24% pulmonary conditions, 20% contacts and autoimmune. 16% of private services, Greater vigilance is suggested in this population.
