ABSTRACT Introduction: Most of the infections associated with HIV / AIDS are acquired sexually, especially heterosexual immunosuppression and the occurrence of opportunistic infections and related symptoms are now called B symptoms associated with AIDS, arise as a result of the progressive decline in CD4 cells in the asymptomatic phase of the disease. Objectives: To determine the pathologies associated with HIV patients get the level of CD4 at the time of hospital care, know their demographics and the type of population to which they belong. Methodology: An observational, descriptive, cross-sectional, retrospective. Included in the study were men and women aged 15-63 years diagnosed with HIV, who consulted at the National Hospital (Itaugua) between February 2008 and June 2012. Results: 168 patients were treated, of which HIV diagnoses were confirmed by the study of Western blotting. Males predominated (52%). The most common age group was between 27 and 38 years (49%). Mortality was 12.5%. There were 7% of men who have sex with men and 6% of female sex workers. Pathologies associated cerebral toxoplasmosis most frequent were 19%, 14% wasting syndrome, meningitis Criptococcus 5% 4.8% pneumonia, pulmonary tuberculosis 4.2% . With respect to the determination of CD4, 46% had values had values below 200 cells / ml, 33% between 200 and 500 cells / ml and only 1% was greater than 500 cells/ ml. Conclusions: There was a predominance of male sex and age group affected between 27 and 38. The most common associated pathology was cerebral toxoplasmosis. The CD4 count less than 200 cells / ml was found in 46%.
