Abstract

ABSTRACT: Introduction: Vertical transmission of HIV is a recognized phenomenon, but it can be avoided. Material and Method: We performed an observational study in 3497 patients who delivered in 2008 at the Hospital San Pablo (Asunción). It was detected a prevalence of 0.82%. Results: All pregnant women received antiretroviral treatment and long term follow up of newborns showed a seroconversion in only 2 cases (5%).
