ABSTRACT The menace of preterm labor is a common pathology in our country despite technological advances. The advent of new management protocols recommended a review of perinatal outcome. Objetive: describe the perinatal outcome in preterm labor. Methods: A descriptive study was conducted, through a retrospective review of medical records of pregnant women who consulted on the San Pablo Hospital between January and December 2007. Results: Of 3332 pregnant patients, we found a prevalence of 3.37% of cases of menace of preterm labor. The most frequent associated pathologies were urinary tract infections and premature rupture of membranes. In most cases there was need for tocolysis and lung maturation. It occurs most frequently in patients at extremes of reproductive life and those from urban areas. There were no fetal deaths from this cause. Rooming was immediately set at 89% of cases. Conclusions: The threat of preterm delivery was seen in the joint ends and is associated with urinary tract infections.
