IRALA LEDEZMA, Juan Domingo. Progression of oxacillin resistance in Staphylococcus aureus isolated from 2011 - 2013 at a reference hospital in Asunción -Paraguay. Rev. Inst. Med. Trop. [online]. 2017, vol.12, n.1, pp.5-9. ISSN 1996-3696. https://doi.org/10.18004/imt/20171215-9.
Introduction.
Continuous changes in bacterial epidemiology, not only with germs such as S. aureus but with the wide range of germs in the community, do not constantly compel to evaluate the state of bacterial resistance.
In this article we aim to determine the progression of resistance to oxidation of S. aureus in a reference hospital from 2011 to 2013.
A total of 720 samples, of which 605 were included in the study, mostly secretions as a cause of skin and soft tissue infection, with a percentage of oxacillin resistance of 52%.
Discussion:
The rapid increase of MRSA in our institution requires the active surveillance of antibacterial resistance, not only of S. aureus, but of all the germs isolated in the laboratory of Bacteriology
Conclusion:
It is expected that resistance to increase, which implies an active surveillance from the laboratory of bacteriology and involves a greater commitment from the point of view of communication between health professionals, in order to promote the Control of Resistance to antibacterials and on the other hand the constant updating of the data by the laboratory part and the socialization of the same, a fin of that the treatments of the infections are the most successful possible.
