Neonatal mortality is an indicator of the development of a community and is a mirror of their civilization. That is why, neonatal deaths constitute a health problem of vital importance for the country, which are subject to constant analysis and monitoring of their etiologies. To analyze the association between sociodemographic factors, biological, pregnancy, childbirth, access to health services and neonatal mortality Regional Hospital of Coronel Oviedo, it was the main objective of the present investigation. Quantitative, analytical, retrospective, case-control, in the period between January to September of the year 2,013 2,014 study. They entered the study considered 59 cases infants and 59 control infants. Risk factors associated with neonatal mortality were gestational age less than 37 weeks, Apgar score at one minute and five minutes of life, the presence of complications during birth, type of birth presentation, age of newborn , birth weight, prenatal care attendance and the number of prenatal visits. Risk factors associated with neonatal mortality Coronel Oviedo Regional Hospital are preventable through incentives aimed at the pregnant women, the constant attendance at prenatal visits as a complement to professional acting in time before the onset comprehensive actions these factors found.
