In many American countries, bat are the main transmitters and reservoirs of the rabies virus, regardless of their eating habits. The objective was to describe the epidemiological characteristics of attacks by bats on humans in Paraguay, from January 2018 to July 2021. A descriptive, retrospective cross-sectional study of 81 patients exposed to bats was carried out, who consulted at the National Anti-Rabies Center. They ranged from 13 to 27 accidents per year; 42% corresponded to the age group between 20 and 29 years old; 59% male; more frequent in December and January; 79% in Asunción and Asunción belt; 39% were students, 60% received serum plus vaccines, 56% their exposure was in the fingers of the hand and upper limb; of the 16 bats that were received for the laboratory, only 1 tested positive for Rabies, and the species were: Molossus molossus (insectivore) and Artibeus lituratus (frugivore). In Paraguay, due to the control of Urban Rabies, bats (of all species) have become the main potential risk of transmission of the disease and a Problem of strict Surveillance of aggressions by this species.
