Introduction:
There is currently a growing interest in the increase of rheumatological diseases prevalence, which generate disability and high costs to health systems. The skin coverage is part of a treatment against the exposure of noble tissues.
Case Description:
57-year-old female patient, with 22 days of hospitalization in the Plastic Surgery Unit of the Hospital de Clínicas, Faculty of Medical Sciences, post-operative cutaneous flap in the anterior region of the left knee, Slow evolution and with diagnosis of rheumatoid arthritis base, post operated hip prosthesis. The first kinesthetic evaluation shows a degree of independence of 25%, corresponding to grade II of the FIM scale, and a value of 65/100 of the Barthel scale corresponding to moderate dependence. In the last session the Barthel Scale was reached: slight dependence of 93 points and in the FIM Scale: grade IV Minimum Attendance. The objective of the presentation of the case is to demonstrate the functional evolution of the patient after receiving a total of 10 sessions of physiotherapy.
Discussion:
Rheumatoid arthritis is a chronic disease characterized by functional limitation and disability. Physiotherapy in hospitalized patients with chronic disabling conditions must start from hospital admission for the best clinical and surgical evolution, through interdisciplinary work and continuous physiotherapy treatment, the patient achieved its maximum degree of independence
