ABSTRACT Introduction: Overweight and obesity are recognized as the epidemic of the XXI century and are considered a public health problem, which cause adverse effects in humans. To determine coronary risk factors in overweight subjects in Coronel Oviedo. Subjects and Methods: An observational, cross-sectional analytical with non-probability sampling of consecutive cases. The results are expressed in relative risk (RR), R² and proportions. We considered p<0.05 as significant. Results: We studied 147 subjects aged 12-83 years (34.95 ± 17.28). 32.7 % were overweight and 29.3% were men. 40.8% reported a family history and 50.3% do not perform exercises. The 29.9% were sedentary. We found significant correlation between waist circumference and weight (R² = 83%), index hip - waist and waist circumference (R²= 80%), weight and body mass index (R2 = 85%) , waist circumference and body mass index body (R²= 88.9%) . The determinant of the correlation matrix was highly significant (p= 0.000) and the measure of sampling adequacy Kaiser Meyer Olkin (KMO) was 65.3% (p= 0.000). The 1st component was 55.4 %, 15.01% 2nd and 3rd accumulating 13.06% 83.48 % of the variance. Conclusion: Body mass index and waist circumference, account for more than half of the coronary risk factors in overweight subjects, to be considered in future studies. Keywords: Overweight, Sedentary, Principal Components
