Resumo

ABSTRACT Introduction: hemorrhoids are normal anatomical structures of the anal canal that may undergo distal displacement and prolapse outside the anal canal having bleeding as the dominant symptom. Among the various therapeutic methods, the rubber band ligation is currently preferred. In addition, it is considered ideal for hemorrhoids grade 2. Objective: to evaluate the treatment of hemorrhoids grade 2 using the conventional binders of 1 cm3. Patients and methods: is a descriptive observational transverse cut study that include all patients with bleeding hemorrhoids grade 2 treated since 2006 to 2009 with implementation of rubber bands in three sessions separated by 15 days interval. Results: 60 patients were treated with three sessions for each patient by placing therefore 180 bands elastic in total. They were male 50 patients (83%). The age of the patients ranged between 18 and 61 years with an average of 43 years. None had complications. Conclusions: all patients stopped bleeding and had no complications.
