ABSTRACT Introduction: inflammatory cloacogenic polyps are generally rare benign polypoid lesions. They are classified into non-adenomatous colonic polyps (inflammatory) and are called cloacogenic for being located in the anorectal transition region its main form of presentation is rectal bleeding (gross or microscopic). Case report: A 64-year-old man with hematochezia and chronic anemia with a polypoid tumor palpable at 4 cm from the anal margin in which endoscopic polypectomy was performed and the histopathology informed an inflammatory cloacogenic polyp. Colonic diverticulosis was also found. Conclusion: Despite being very rare lesion, it should be considered as differential diagnosis of polyp in the anorectal region. Preferred treatment is endoscopic polypectomy when the polyp present symptoms or when is not possible to exclude malignancy. Keywords: intestinal polyps, colonic polyps, rectal diseases
