ABSTRACT Intraabdominal lymphangiomas are uncommon tumors. In most cases they are present in patients under the age of 5 years, although 75% of the cases manifest in adulthood. Its incidence is estimated at one in 140,000 hospital admissions. They can be located in any of the gastrointestinal mesentery region but more frequently in the small intestine. They represent 2% of benign lesions of the small intestine and rarely become malignant. Ultrasound is the diagnostic method of choice in determining the consistency and content. The study should be completed with other diagnostic imaging tests, such as CT or MRI, which provide information on the location, size and relationships with neighboring organs. The recommended treatment is surgical excision. We present a case of a 47 year old man with a tumor located in the mesentery treated surgically. The histopathological examination revealed cystic lymphangioma of the mesentery. The most important aspects of this type of tumor are discussed with emphasis in diagnostic imaging. Keywords: peritoneal neoplasm´s, cystic lymphangioma, diagnosis.
