SUMMARY Neuropsychology studies the cerebral superior functions and the relationship between the healthy or sick brain and behavior. Cognitive deterioration brings behavioral changes and limitation of self-sufficiency. Folstein's MiniMental State is a simple tool for a rapid evaluation of the mental status by primary care doctors. The family plays an essential role in the accompaniment and the containment of these patients. A clear explanation of the situation redounds to benefit of the patients and relatives. Key words: MiniMental State, dementia, neuropsychology, cognitive.
