Resumen

RODAS, Jorge et al. Hospitable stay and cost of the surgical injuries of the bile ducts*. An. Fac. Cienc. Méd. (Asunción) [online]. 2008, vol.41, n.3, pp.23-26. ISSN 1816-8949.

The cholecystectomy for gallstones is one of the most commons procedures in any service of general surgery. The frequency of injuries of bile ducts in this type of surgery ranges between 0, 1 - 0, 6% according to international studies. The objective of this work is to determine the frequency of injuries of bile ducts in cholecystectomies, hospitable stay needed, and the economic cost for both the hospital and the patient. We have done a retrospective study, of transverse cut, descriptive and observational, that includes patients that have been cholecystectomized at the II Chair of Surgical Clinic, fin a period between January 2006 to January 2008. In this work there were found 4 injuries of bile ducts from a whole of 790 cholecystectomies, which represents a frequency of 0, 5%, comparable to international consulted reports. The hospitable stay of the patients with complications increased from 5 to 20 days, as well as the economic cost for the patient and the hospital which increased up to 10 times.
