ROIG OCAMPOS, Jorge Luis  e  LOPES FILHO, Otacilio. Repeatability of the growth rate of the input/output function of the evoked otoacoustic emissions distortion product. An. Fac. Cienc. Méd. (Asunción) [online]. 2008, vol.41, n.1-2, pp.35-42. ISSN 1816-8949.

Distortion-product otoacoustic emissions (DPOAEs) obtained through the input/output function (I/O) evaluate a bigger extension of the area responsible for the nonlinear compression of the acoustic signal. There are few authors who had studied the reproducibility specifically mentioning itself to function I/O of the EOAPD. The growth index of the I/O function of the DPOAEs is the only consistent data among others characteristics from this function. It lacks of valuable normative data for clinical use. The purpose of this study is to make a descriptive analysis of individuals with normal hearing. There were 16 individuals in the study (24 ears). The reproducibility of the I/O function from the DPOAEs centered in the index of growth between different individuals, as much as in the same individual in relation to the time, was determined. Statistic analysis were used to treat the data. We showed that the data from the I/O function of the DPOAEs is equal for the repetitions through the time and for the diferents ears (right/left). We obtain an only value that varies with a imposed frequency and it is adjustable for any individual between that period of stimuli. In was concluded that, in the studied population, the value of the calculated growth rate was similar between the individuals and it was reproducible in relation to the time.
