Abstract
LOVERA RIVAS, Mónica; CARRON ALVARADO, Agustín and AYALA LUGO, Rosa María. Comparison between the non contact tonometer and the conventional goldmann applanation tonometer in the ophthalmologic practice. An. Fac. Cienc. Méd. (Asunción) [online]. 2005, vol.38, n.4, pp.70-72. ISSN 1816-8949.
Purpose: To determine the fiability of non contact tonometer comparing with Goldmann tonometer. Methods: 200 measurements (100 patients) were performed at first ophthalmology consultation, using the Reichert AT555 non contact tonometer and Goldmann applanation tonometer. Results: Global (n=200): 19,2% (20) without difference; 30,8% (32) lower value; 50% (52) higher value. Group IOP < 22mmHg (n=88) 21,6% (19) without difference; 34,1% (30) lower value; 44,3% (39) higher value. Group IOP > 22mmHg (n=16) 6,3% (1) without difference; 12,5% (2) lower value; 81,2 % (13) higher value. Conclusion: The non contact tonometer has more confiability in patients with IOP < 21 mmHg.
