SCKELL DE DUARTE, Carmen. Hemodiálisis rentability in the Clinics Hospital. An. Fac. Cienc. Méd. (Asunción) [online]. 2005, vol.38, n.4, pp.30-37. ISSN 1816-8949.

The Hemodialysis service provided by the Nephrology Department in the Hospital de Clínicas, for the Chronic Renal Disease treatment is a very profitable business (yet to develop), which could provide a self-obtained income within a short time, if the number of dialysis patients is increased to at least a hundred, and by reorganizing the available human resources and also by signing a service contract with the National Institute of Nephrology, the Renal Foundation of Paraguay, and offering this service at the minimum cost of 200.000.- Gs. (which will include all the necessary materials). Later on the Hospital could also sign an agreement with the Social Prevision Institute and in the long term once the FONARES Law (National Fund for Solidarity Health Resources) is in force, the Department could account with an established number of patients per year and this way the educational and the assistance work will be both compensated. Another plan for the near future is to create a health insurance program for the National University employees, a project being impelled by the actual University Board, which will cover the chronic hemodialysis treatment for its insureds, as long as they are free of this kind of renal disease once they file the application for the insurance. By all these means we will accomplish our Mission of Academic Excellency and profitability in the medical assistance, also allowing access to a larger number of citizens to these high complexity medical procedures.
