      INTRODUCTION: The latex is a common element in many medical products. Many of the medical instruments and dispositives are in contact with the mucosa membranes, that lets an absortion of the latex’s proteins which becomes in an allergy reaction. The studies indicate that between the 8% and the 12% of the health workers who are regularly exposed to latex, are already sensibilized to it, comparing with the 1% and 6% of the population in general.       OBJECTIVE: To evaluate the sensibilization to latex in health workers who are working in the III CCM of Clinicas’ Hospital in Asuncion.       METHOD AND MATERIAL: 20 persons were evaluated, among them, 10 were internal and residents doctors,4 nurses and 6 cleaning workers that filled up a questionnaire and then prick tests have been made on them with latex extract of the international company ALK ABELLO® (Lundbeck Fondation, Denmark) for latex.       RESULTS: The prick test was positive on 5 of the persons, who had never presented allergy reactions to latex.       CONCLUSION: It has been observed a high sensibilitation to latex. Even though the number of persons who were evaluated were not too many; these results are similar with the international publication, where the health workers are in the group of high level of risk.
