Abstract
SAMANIEGO, Castor et al. Acute coger gastrointestinal bleeding for jejunal diverticulosis. An. Fac. Cienc. Méd. (Asunción) [online]. 2005, vol.38, n.3, pp.48-51. ISSN 1816-8949.
Locating the cause of lower gastrointestinal bleeding (LGIB) has serious setbacks although a proper therapeutic decision depends enterily on it. Very often, endoscopy urgently performed does not reveal the cause, either due to an ill prepared bleeding colon or ti the hemorrhage being in another organ. This paper reports the finding of several diverticula in the proximal jejunum at laparotomy done to an elder with LGIB, without adequate diagnosis. Two diverticula had signs of recent bleding. The resection of some of the more voluminous ones stopped the bleeeding. Pathology studies reported vascular erosion in one. The patient was later discharged. Data shows that jejunal diverticulosis is among the rare etiologies of LGIB.
