Abstract

Surgical site infections and complications that come from them have constituted an inseparable fact of the surgical practice from its rudimentary beginning to the present. A surgical site infection appearance is the result of pathological germs and host interaction. The study had as objective to determine the knowledge and interventions of scrubs nurses about prevention of surgical site infections. Experiences in a private hospital experience of Paraguay in 2022. The investigation was observational, descriptive, cross-sectional, with a quantitative approach. The population consisted of 18 scrub nurses who were selected by non-probabilistic convenience sampling. The method was the survey, using the interview as a technique, and the questionnaire as the instrument. The data was tabulated on Microsoft Excel 2010 electronic spreadsheets, analyzed by EpiInfo 7.2.0.1. Then tables and graphics were developed from the results elaborated in Microsoft Excel. The majority was between 21 and 30 years old, women predominated and most graduated from public university, between 1 to 5 year careers. It was determined that a vast majority had extensive knowledge of general assessments regarding prevention of surgical site infections. All of them carried out actions to prevent surgical site infections.
