In 2011, it has been 100 years since the discovery of the first case of visceral leishmaniasis in the Americas made by Dr. Luis Migone, a fact that was unnoticed. However, it is still time to commemorate this historic milestone and reflect on the current situation of the disease in our country with abundant material of bibliographic references.
