ORTIZ CUQUEJO, Lidia María et al. Newborns born to mothers with substance abuse. Forms of presentation: not everything is about withdrawal syndrome. Pediatr. (Asunción) [online]. 2022, vol.49, n.1, pp.57-61. ISSN 1683-9803.  https://doi.org/10.31698/ped.49012022008.

Illegal drug consumption by pregnant women can cause potentially serious morbidities in the fetus and newborn. Manifestations in children can be diverse, so a high index of suspicion is necessary in order to appropriately diagnose and treat this condition. Three cases of newborns, born to mothers with substance-abuse disorder, with various clinical presentations are reviewed.

Palabras clave : addicted mother; children of a drug addict mother; withdrawal syndrome; drug in breast milk.
