Abstract

MOREL AYALA, Zoilo. Clasificación de las Vasculitis Sistémicas en Pediatría. Pediatr. (Asunción) [online]. 2012, vol.39, n.2, pp.121-130. ISSN 1683-9803.

Over time, a number of classification systems for systemic vasculitis have appeared, usually based on studies in adults. Although children, adolescents, and adults share many signs and symptoms of the disease, the relative frequency of some of the clinical manifestations and concomitant diseases does vary. In 2005, the Paediatric Rheumatology European Society (PRES) proposed preliminary classification criteria for some of the types of vasculitis most common in childhood. Later, with the support of the European League Against Rheumatism (EULAR) and PRES a formal process of statistical validation was established with collection of large scale data that culminated in the Ankara consensus of 2008, which is presented in this review.
