BERINO-DIAZ-DE-BEDOYA, Luis-Carlos. The aging population and economic growth: the case of Paraguay. Poblac.Desarro. [online]. 2016, vol.22, n.43, pp.62-71. ISSN 2076-054X. https://doi.org/10.18004/pdfce/2076-054x/2016.022(43)62-071.
The economic growth rate is affected by the contraction of the active population as a result of the aging of the population. This situation can be offset by greater technological devel-opment and the application of innovations to production. In the case of Paraguay, there is an accelerated process of population aging, with minimal impact on economic growth but which in the long run would slow down rhythm and negatively affect their economic development and quality of life. Therefore, it is necessary to promote technological devel-opment, to transform the productive structure and compensate for the decline in the active population, generating a higher rate of growth and consolidating an inclusive economy for the population over 65 years.
