Sporotrichosis is a granulomatous fungal infection caused by the Sporothrix schenckii fungus, which is present in soil. It is the second most common deep mycosis in Paraguay in immunocompetent patients after paracoccidioidomycosis (South American blastomycosis). Clinical manifestations vary according to the site of implantation, volume implanted, strain virulence, and the immune status of the host. We present the case of a child with cutaneous and lymphangitic sporotrichosis confirmed by skin biopsy and culture and treated with itraconazole, with good tolerance and complete resolution of the lesion.
Palabras clave : Sporotrichosis; deep mycosis; Splendore-Hoeppli phenomenon.
