GOMEZ GRANCE, F. J. et al. IMPLEMENTACIÓN DE UN NUEVO SISTEMA DOSIMÉTRICO PARA RADIOTERAPIA BASADO EN DOSÍMETROS FRICKE. Rep. cient. FACEN [online]. 2010, vol.1, n.1, pp.90-99. ISSN 2222-145X.
The Determined radiation dose delivered to the patient, it is estimated by the reference dose with an uncertainty of 3% in the best cases; this is done with traditional dosimetry detectors called ionization chamber. This research is based on the phenomenon of the reaction of solutions of ferrous ammonium sulfate, which when exposed to ionizing radiation, the absorbance changes in direct proportion to the magnitude of the radiation dose received, due to this it becomes an useful dosimeter for radiotherapy being its use more frequent. As a result of this work, we can say that FRICKE dosimetry is less accurate than ionization chamber dosimetry, but such dosimetry can be used as a relative parameter to traditional physical dosimetry. However, further research could improve the accuracy of the FRICKE dosimeters by changing the physical state of the solution and optimize the preparation of the solution, together with increased precision and accuracy of the spectrophotometer, when measure the absorbance.
