Abstract: Streptococcus dentisani is a bacterium that has attracted the attention of the scientific community in recent years for having very promising capabilities to restore the balance of the oral microbiota that makes up the biofilm, maintaining the pH close to neutrality, avoiding acidification and therefore the spread of cariogenic microorganisms, responsible for dysbiosis, dental caries and periodontitis. In clinical tests show the increased saliva and ammonia, decrease of cariogenic microorganisms in bacterial plaque, due to the ability to release more than six types of bacteriocins that completely inhibit Streptococcus mutans, S sobrinus, S. salivarius, Prevotella intermedia. The aim of this review is to demonstrate the great probiotic capabilities of Streptococcus dentisani to preserve oral health.
