VALDEZ VELAZQUEZ, Nelson Andrés; DONCEL INVERNIZZI, Fredy Aurelio y GODIN EIRIN, Marcelo Alejandro. Calibration of the Amorphous Silicon Electronic Portal Imager (ASIP) and its use as a dosimetric tool in Radiotherapy with Linear Accelerator. Rep. cient. FACEN [online]. 2023, vol.14, n.2, pp.105-113. ISSN 2222-145X. https://doi.org/10.18004/rcfacen.2023.14.2.105.
This work was carried out at the Radiotherapy Department of a Comprehensive Oncology Center in the city of Asunción, where an ELEKTA brand INFINITY Linear Accelerator (LINAC) unit is located, with nominal photon energies of 6 MV and 10 MV. In vivo dosimetry in external beam radiotherapy with a Linear Accelerator (Teletherapy) is based on measurements using the Amorphous Silicon Image Portal Electronic Detector (ASIP) or detector panel, which offers a comprehensive solution by detecting errors and faults in the dose distribution to the patient during the treatment of arious oncological pathologies. The aim is to achieve greater precision in the administered dose to the patient, as there is a probability of complications if dose values exceed the prescribed levels. Special and rigorous considerations were considered in the calibration processes of the detector panel, which was used in conjunction with the LINAC for absolute dose measurements. Procedures for quality control in Teletherapy were identified based on the results of the detector panel calibration, ensuring the detection of errors and faults in dose measurements during treatment. The methodology involved the use of irradiation administration techniques in air or direct panel irradiation (pre-treatment), as well as irradiation while passing through solid water phantoms. The obtained results indicate that the calibration is highly acceptable, implying that the method can be used in conjunction with LINAC treatment plans.
