Abstract

GUTIERREZ PRIMO, Elizabeth Magaly et al. Culture in public educational institutions during the Covid-19 pandemic. Acad. (Asunción) [online]. 2024, vol.11, n.2, pp.176-191. ISSN 2414-8938.  https://doi.org/10.30545/academo.2024.may-ago.7.

The Covid-19 pandemic turned out to be a substantial event in the changes and adaptations made to this system within educational institutions. In this sense, the present study addresses the school culture in public educational institutions during this unusual context and aims to analyze said culture based on the perceptions of management and teaching staff during the Covid-19 pandemic. Data collection was carried out through the application of semi-structured interviews with five directors and nine teachers from five schools located in four different regions of Peru. From the analysis, it is concluded that, in public educational institutions, there were changes in the organization and development of the rituals of their identity. Likewise, myths and metaphors related to distance education were evident that show certain strengths, weaknesses and opportunities for improvement that the Covid-19 pandemic left in the educational context.

Keywords : School culture; organization; myths; metaphors; rituals.
