Abstract
ARACA LLANOS, F. H; GOMEZ CATACORA, L; CAHUI GALARZA, A and MARIN MAMANI, G. Influence of soil-structure interaction on the behaviour of houses framed with isolated footings in the city of Juliaca. Rev. ciente. UCSA [online]. 2020, vol.7, n.2, pp.70-81. ISSN 2409-8752. https://doi.org/10.18004/ucsa/2409-8752/2020.007.02.070.
The structural response to an earthquake of a reinforced concrete building is affected by the interaction of three components: the ground, the foundation and the structure. The purpose of the present is to determine the influence of the soil-structure interaction on the behavior of framed houses in the city of Juliaca, Peru. The method incorporated soil flexibility according to FEMA 356/440 recommendations in addition to verifying the performance and seismic responses among the models with embedded base and flexible base in the different study points, for the 2 and 3 story square buildings. The main results show that the influence of the soil-structure interaction is not significant, however, in the 4- and 5-storey buildings the effect is very significant. Buildings with rectangular plan of 2 floors when assigning flexibility in the foundation base are not significant, however in the 3, 4 and 5 floors buildings present greater effect of the soil-structure interaction. In terms of shear forces and tilting moments, the increase of the soil-structure interaction does not exceed 1%, therefore, it does not modify the strength of the building.
