The objective of the study was to classify 80,246 hectares on the right bank of the Paraguay river belonging to the Chaco Humid region. On two occasions, in 2000 and 2016, was interpreted the vegetal cover and the land use of this area. In the year 2000, through the analysis of the satellite image interpretation on a scale of 1:50,000 were delimited and differentiated six landscapes units. Sixteen years later, it was analyzed the possible changes occurring of the pertinent surfaces of the six landscape units. For the year 2016, the area occupied by non-flooded humid Chaco forest was 31,494 ha, flooded humid Chaco forest 27,986 ha, palm area - karanda´y 9,190 ha, shrub vegetation of flooded areas 6,058 ha, anthropic area 4,210 ha and water reservoirs 1,308 ha. From the total area, 44 %of the was identified as permanently flooded,16% temporarily flooded and the non-flooded area corresponded to 40%. It was verified that, over the course of 16 years, the area occupied by human settlements has an increase of more than three thousand percent, while the other defined landscape units did not show consistent changes.
