MENDIETA, Maximiliano; VELAZTIQUI, Alina and FRANCO, Shirley. Enforced disappearances and extrajudicial executions during the stronista dictatorship. Rev. Int. Investig. Cienc. Soc. [online]. 2024, vol.20, n.1, pp.103-120. ISSN 2226-4000. https://doi.org/10.18004/riics.2024.junio.103.
The objective of this research is to describe the forced disappearances and extrajudicial executions during the Stronist dictatorship (1954-1989) in Paraguay. It consists of the systematization of the data found in Volume VIII, Part 3 of the Truth and Justice Commission in index card format. The methodology applied was of documentary design, empirical-quantitative type of descriptive scope considering the characterization of forced disappearances and extrajudicial executions in the Paraguayan State. The results show that in a period of 35 years of dictatorship there were 336 cases of forced disappearances and 59 cases of extrajudicial executions. Most of the victims were Paraguayan nationals, with a smaller percentage of foreigners. The victims did not know the reason for their detention or how long they would be detained; they were detained on the mere suspicion of belonging to a certain association linked to communism.
