ABSTRACT. Rabies is a preventable, viral, infectious disease caused by the Rabies lyssavirus, which affects the central nervous system in all mammals and, where inoculated, produces an acute progressive encephalitis with a mortality rate close to 100%. This article reports a case of rabies in a bat belonging to the Genera Eptesicus that was assisted in the Wildlife Practice in the Department of Wildlife and Natural Environment, Faculty of Veterinary Sciences, National University of Asunción, Paraguay.
