Abstract

In order to determine the presence of Beta-lactam antibiotic residues in raw goat milk marketed in the Central Department of Paraguay, a total of 40 samples (4 samplings, 8 days apart, during 1 month) were collected from 10 sales stands in cities of the Central Department, Republic of Paraguay.in 2017. All samples were analyzed by Chr. Hansen Antibiotic Test at the Microbiology and Immunology Laboratory of the Faculty of Veterinary Sciences of the National University of Asuncion. The results obtained were: of a total of 40 samples, 2 of them (5%) were positive for beta-lactam antibiotic residues, 12.5%, corresponding to 5 samples were suspicious and 33 samples (82.5%) were negative.
