Abstract

ABSTRACT Parasites are different species organisms, morphologies and lengths that cause disease in the host organism, it develops throughout their life as a permanent host. Considering Ypacarai Lake´s importance and social relevance, the study was conducted in order to determine external parasites from fish main species that inhabit the lake, for the porpouse were captured diferent species specimens using scientific gear, in two sample points, Patiño and Ciervo Kua. Samples were taken through the integument scraping technique and analyzed in the Ictiopathology Laboratory, at the Fisheries and Aquaculture Department, Veterinary Science Faculty - UNA. A total of 663 fish specimens were analyzed, 42% were positive for parasites, belonging to: Ichthyobodo sp., Trichodina sp., Lernea sp. and Ergasilus sp., dominated by the first two species. Considering the ichthyofauna the high incidence parasitic fish species vary in their occurrence, and the results allow us to the water quality from the lake has inadequate conditions for fish.
