Abstract

      The increase in life expectation in actual days brings along the increase in the number of old patients, and therefore the increase of medical consults in this group, so it becomes urgent the knowledge about the most important skin pathologies that affect these patients in order to give an answer to them.       The present study has been prepared in the Chair of Dermatology of the Faculty of Medical Sciences U.N.A., Clinics Hospital, to know the most frequent skin illness in geriatric patients. For that purpose it has been elaborated a retrospective observational study of transversal cut in which has been taken in account 1237 patients´ clinic records, from which 284 were of more than 60 years old, which represents the 22,9% of all consults in a period between January to December 2002, having been observed that the skin illness of most frequent consult was Eczema with 70 patients (24;6%) followed by Superficial Micosis with 42 patients (14,7%) and actinics queratosis 27 patients (9,5%)
